Features
"Escapade" is one of only 45 58' Long Range Cruisers manufactured by Hatteras Yachts and one of the few with the preferred Detroit Diesel 6-71 mains. Restored over a 6-year period, this vessel has a long list of changes and updates. Notably, this vessel is the only LRC with an integral bulbous bow, installed to minimize "Hobby Horsing" often found in trawler-designed vessels. To add additional stability, the stabilizer system has been completely updated with 7.5 sq. ft. fins and the "MultiSea II" stabilizers by Naiad. Two new generators have been installed, an 8 KW and 15 KW Onan. A 25 hp hydraulic, 12-inch proportional bow thruster was also added to allow for effortless docking in any weather. Finally, comfort in all climates is attained through the air-conditioning system (with updated Coastal Climate Controls), as well as an 85,000 BTU "Viseman" central boiler with radiant heat throughout, including the aft deck.
Accommodations
Sleeps 8 in the following layout. Forward is a CREW or GUEST
STATEROOM with four single berths, drawers, hanging locker and enclosed head
with shower. Next aft is the landing area from the spiral staircase leading down
from the pilothouse. To port is another enclosed head with vanity and shower
serving the twin berth GUEST STATEROOM immediately aft. This stateroom has a
bureau, under-berth drawers and a hanging locker. To starboard is the passageway
to the engine room. It contains a linen closet, a utility closet, 6 large
drawers, a single passage berth that is presently used as a work/laundry area
with a washer/dryer/pantry and a Craftsman tool chest followed by the door to
the full headroom, walk-around ENGINE ROOM.
The OWNER'S STATEROOM is aft of the engine room and is accessed from a spiral staircase on the port side of the main salon. It has a centerline queen berth, two large hanging lockers, built-in 9 drawer dresser and bedside tables, storage cabinets and drawers affording ample space for more than average clothing and personal effects. Adjoining this stateroom is a private head with tub/shower.
On the MAIN DECK, the PILOT HOUSE is forward housing the electronics and the lower control station. A large bench seat affords comfortable seating and chart storage below. Next aft and to starboard is an ON-DECK HEAD and just aft is a PANTRY. The MAIN SALON is set up as a dining/conversation area with a teak Hi-Lo dining table and entertainment center containing the stereo equipment and a TV. A ladder from the pilothouse reaches the FLYBRIDGE and BOATDECK AREA. A complete set of controls and instrumentation is here along with 3 person bench seat, followed by a large custom entertainment table. Next is a custom L-shaped settee with storage lockers, and a 6 person life raft.
